Tarot: The Devil
National Poetry Day 11
April is National Poetry Month. I am posting or revising a poem each day in April related to the tarot deck. Please check out index for this at:
For National Poetry Month I am using tarot cards for inspiration. The tarot card for today is The Devil. The symbolic essence that flows from The Devil is desire, addiction, and compulsive behaviour. This card reminds us that we forge our own chains and choose to wear them. It also reminds us that freedom is ours, and we can choose differently.
Ravenous
βββYou make me hungry.
You stand close filling my senses
βwith sharp-edged aching want
even just being so near to you
βI can feel the blood in your veins
smell the spicy tang of your flesh
βtaste the sweetness of your skin
βββYou make me hungry
Your eyes sparkle with enticement
βYour lips invite my mouth to taste
Your raven hair begs for my grasp
βYour presence awakens yearnings
so wildly fierce I feel on fire
βββYou make me so hungry
I would pin you to this wall
βshred your clothing
ββfeed upon your body
starting with your lips
βsliding down your skin
ββfeast on your neck
sampling downward
βover your naked form
ββdrink in your heat
sip from your desire
βawaken your appetite
so that together we
βcollapse entwined
ββby our delight
in this madness
βenchained
βββWe are ravenous.
